Performed at the Bendix Building through Durden and Ray
2022

Spillover Live was inspired by the 5-channel installation Spillover. The title, Spillover, references the transfer of pathogens from animal to humans while playfully engaging growing anxieties around global pandemics. The nine performers read texts from 25 participants who were asked to respond to the following prompt during the early days of COVID quarantine: "What overwhelming emotion have you been experience since the onset of the pandemic? Do you see your outlook changing in the coming months?" The responses were read by performers while attempting to retain water in their mouths. The durational piece lasted approximately 30 minutes, and engaged water as both a vital life force and potential contaminent.
