Breaking Study performed at the Akademie Schloss Solitude
Potentially Dangerous Contraptions is an evening of short musical and performance-based works at the Schlosskappelle Solitude in Stuttgart on September 12. The works form an interdisciplinary dialogue about modern-day issues of power and spectatorship through the lenses of historical Judeo-Christian pedagogy and Medieval musical codices. Performances in collaboration with James Rushford, Elena Morena-Weber and Savyon.
Breaking Study punctuated both acts. Prepping the branches over an upside alter, we tied rope to our wastes and the wood, using ratches to create tension in the hopes of breaking the branch. As the size of the branches grew, our gesture became futile and humorous.
James and I depicted sweeping the debris from Breaking Study in order to prep the arena for the incoming performers.
